It took nearly five minutes for the Mustangs to get on the board against Division I opponent Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi on Friday afternoon. The Islanders jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead at the 15:02 mark. WNMU was able to storm back to come within two with just under nine minutes remaining in the first half, but that was the closest the Mustangs would get. WNMU dropped to 2-2 after the 88-60 loss.

Thirteen Mustangs saw playing time with 11 scoring at least a bucket. Audra Major (Socorro, NM/Socorro High School) (Socorro, NM) recorded her third double-double of the season with ten points and 11 rebounds. Ashley Vigil (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia High School) (Albuquerque, NM), Sara Olney (Magdalena, NM/Hot Springs High School) (Magdalena, NM), and Chasity Pryor (Athens, TX/Cross Roads High School) (Athens, TX) all followed with eight points apiece.

The Mustangs shot 36.8 percent from the floor and a terrific 88.2 percent from the free throw line. The Islanders finished with just over 50 percent from the floor and 62.5 percent from the charity stripe.

Corpus Christi's Myeisha Myles led all scorers with 16 points in just 21 minutes of play.
